I write this blog today because I have a lot to get off my chest. This is partly the reason I haven't written in a little while.
I been in a "funk" this past week, not the good kind either. The kind where if you say something that just sounds SILLY - I might have lost my patience with you. I apologize. Somehow my patience has been out to lunch for a week. I am sure some of you have been there as well.
I have been trying to see the bigger picture and figure things out to no avail., with everyday I woke up hoping to be out of this state. When I woke up the same, I became sad and impatient.
Impatient because if you know me, I like to move fast. For once the answers weren't coming fast enough. Even now I don't think I have the answers.
One of the things that has been bothering me lately is work (I don't know who reads my blog but oh well, gotta keep it real). In a work environment where everyone works their ass off everyday it would be nice that the "powers that be" utilize their power to set the record straight with their employees. I mean, I get it times are changing, no one knows whats going on, but I think in a state of crisis like that all you can do is let your employees know what the deal is. I mean you may not know the answer but to tell them that you are working towards one, to give them updates once in a while would help. I mean for some of us this is our life, I LIVE THIS, I EAT THIS, this isn't just a hobby for me. It's my career and for some reason I am getting the vibe that none of that is important.
I AM HUNGRY and no one is listening !!!! I mean the people that can make changes aren't listening. You gotta motivate your employees, you have to let them know constantly that their work is valued. See I am lucky to have the greatest boss who will always tell me, but beyond that, the people that are making these decisions with our future in their hands you need to let your employees know that they are valued. To me employees are the most important part of any business, lose their motivation or their drive and you have lost it all. How can you gamble that? How can you wait to be so reactive to keep your employees on board? I mean SHIT from where I am standing you need them, since everyone is leaving.
WAKE UP and say something, do something !!!! It saddens me to see that we are treated as WASTE ! That's what it is to me, waste- wasted potential, wasted dreams, wasted talent !
Maybe it's my fault for getting caught up and expecting them not to be reactive. How can I expect them not to be reactive when that's all they have done. I may get mad for writting this shit- but its REAL it's so real, it's my life they are putting in their - NEVER ENDING TO DO LIST. That's my future you are putting away to decide to do as you wish, when you want to.
NO MATTER WHAT... I know that this too shall pass, perhaps I am maturing and seeing things as they are. I still love the people I work with. I understand the times that we are in. I am actually not scared of these times, I believe they will turn around. But man don't make me lose faith in this by not acknowledging my interest and enthousiasm. NO MATTER WHAT...It's Universal Urban for life, that's my fam 'til the end. I am not done, this isn't the end of the road. Just feels like it. I am not leaving or anything, I am just UPSET right now and needed to vent.
It will work out I know but for some reason that isn't good enough for me right now.
I already know that in life we have two choices when we disagree with something- choose to complain about it hoping it changes or creating the change we want to see. I chose to be the change I want to see.
I will show them that NO MATTER WHAT- you can't break my stride. I am going to continue to do the best at what I am GREAT at and let that shine and speak for itself.
What they failed to understand while they hold our future in their hands is, this was never about the money. We all did it for the love. I did this for the love. I did this because I had a dream and although my dream seems to be altering. I DO THIS FOR THE LOVE- DON'T SUCK THE LOVE OUT OF IT PLEASE. Do with it what you will to keep it alive but don't suck the love or humanity out of it please.

Dear Summer 08'...
I can't wait for you to arrive ... So much stuff will go down this summer ! One of the things that I am the most excited for is the new Kardinal album that will be release internationally.
This will go down in history for sure. It's funny to think that I used to think he was the coolest rapper when I was younger. Now I have a chance to work his record, same as when we worked the Jully Black. We are gonna make history with this one, this is what we have all been waiting for I can feel it.
The parties are going to be off the chain. This summer is going to be different I can feel it.
Stylus Awards are on the way !!!!!! That is always an exciting part of the summer season.
I feel overwhelemed by all the instore promotions I have set up but it will all work itself out.
I am loving the technology and all the Dj's that are creating podcasts - that serve as earcandy for me. I LOVE IT ! It's taking up a lot of space on my computer but it's all for a good cause.
Dear Summer 08 don't forget to tell the haters to leave the hate at home, its a new summer, a summer of love !!! All we are trying to get is some sun rays before fall comes upon us.
Nevermind all the negativity, let us rise above that and make this summer the most memorable.
