I know many of you have been wondering where the "real" soul in R&B has gone and "why don't they make music like they used to?" True soul fans often complain that artists these days just aren't as soulful anymore. Well, I've got some good news for you. The wait is over! Erykah Badu's long awaited New Amerykah Part One (4th World War) is in stores soon! Great soulful beats, great lyrics, and did I mention SOUL!
Erykah's brought the social subject matter, soulful vibe and her sweet honey voice to a new level. If you're a die hard soul fan, then you'll be pleased of her latest offerings. Believe me when I tell you that this album can be played track-to-track all the way to the end without skipping. When's the last time you had one of those? New Amerykah Part One (4th World War) features productions by 9th Wonder, Madlib, Mike "Chav" Chavarria & Bilal. Some songs that stood out to me were: "Soldier", "The Cell" and "The Telephone".
Make sure to support good music and pick up Erykah Badu New Amerykah Part One (4th World War), in stores March 4th!

Kelis - Get Along With You

Just Thoughts...
If there is one thing we are guaranteed in this life, is the moment. By the moment I mean the present moment, the moment that we find ourselves in at any time. That is the only thing that we can count on. We can only rely on making the most of that moment, the people, the ups and the downs, if only for the fact that we are able to be living in that moment. In a day it is amazing to think of how many lives we cross, either with friends, stranger, friends of friends, coworkers, "facebook friends" (yeah I said it). In each of those lives, we hear a story, either one of the person told or of someone we know. We hear of the good things happening in their lives or in other's lives, the awful things they did or that were done, things they said or that were said, the sad things they hear happen or that affect them, their who does that? moments...All in all we receive so much information on a daily basis and we ourselves encounter so many situations in one day. Essentially, what I am getting to is that regardless of the magnitude of the information or situation - the only alternative would seem to not experience any of those things at all. That to me is equal to not living. How can we live without enjoying the most important thing. LIVING LIFE, in that precise moment and being grateful for the life we have. Afterall isn't that all that we are guaranteed.I say this to give a bit of hope in times when we think that all of the information we are presented with everyday, should affect the way we live.Easier said then done, but I will try from now on to be in the moment and appreciate it for the moment that it is and for the fact that I can BE in that moment.D.

History is being MADE ! YES HE CAN ! Senator Obama wins Wisconsin tonight- which is now the 9th consecutive win for Obama over Hillary Clinton.
Obama in with 55% 51.701
Clinton in with 45% 39.133
I have to say that I am quite surprised myself that he was able to knock out Senator Hillary Clinton 9 times in a row. Especially after the reports that he plagiarized his speech.
Next on the list is Texas- and that will be a very important win for Obama. Although many say that he will be out of luck. I now have no more thoughts on what will happen as everyday I am amazed at the fact that America is indeed ready for a change and seem to be more than ever ready for the possibility of the First Black President and the First Black Lady.
Tune in on Thursday for the democratic debate.

Oh What A Night !!!! So it isn't often that I will blog about my nights out- however last night had to be an exception. A good friend of mine had to celebrate her friend's brithday, so I tagged along to go to C Lounge. Which btw is not one of my favorite places to go. Anywho the night began with my girl, her friend (who we shall call V) and his friend (V2) and I.We drank a bottle of Grey Goose and a lot of red bull. Can I tell you- It sure gave everyone wings.First of all V1 had too much wings- trying to rub up on ME !! HAHAHAH Buddy- you need to flyaway from here- cause your wings are getting way too ahead of themselves. lolGet to the club- MAYHEM ! I mean complete MAYHEM- full of 25 year olds going on 18 seriously. Now I am not dissing 25 year olds - but when you are 25 and acting like 18 that is a PROBLEM. I mean boys pretending to be men in the club, gropping and touching WOMEN- thinking they are gonna get somewhere. HOW LAME !!!The night was awful but my homegirl and I had jokes all night long. Here is a top 10 we created "TOP TEN REASONS NOT TO GO TO C LOUNGE ON A SATURDAY TO PARTY WITH 25 and unders going on 18"1. They are all dancing like no one is watching- and really no one is cause they are dancing like they are on cardiac arrest. 2. WHO dealt it- why fart in a club and think no one is gonna smell it? - Especially after you had what seems to be an EGG sandwich before. TRUST ME WE CAN ALL SMELL IT ! Matter of fact- why are all of you dancing around like you can't smell it.3. Why are they all screaming when they have had a bit of liquor in them- Darling I am only 1 foot away from you- I can hear you loud and clear without you having to take my eardrums out.4. Who gets in a cab and starts to stick his tongue at the cab driver thinking its funny and trying to hold on to his arm- while he is trying to steer the car. (I just had to CTRL+ALT+DELETE myself from that situation and sing to the top of my lungs the song on the radio which happened to be UPGRADE YOU)- Maybe I was hoping they would hear me and think that they needed to be upgraded- SERIOUSLY. We all drank the same amount- why are you acting like you got 100 wings....lol5. Hollywood meets Bollywood on the dancefloor- OMG- why is your shirt soaked- did you happen to walk right into the water fountain wall near the washroom. OH NO - you were just dancing like the Bollywood star that you are. lol6. When you are staring at a girl's horrific dance moves- then she thinks that you are watching her cause she's got it going on. Then comes the "I am gonna show you how good I am at doing this"-Come on now- we were laughing at you- not complimenting your moves.7. Who goes to the DJ booth and tell the DJ "CHANGE IT - the music sucks" Geeze - can you calm down already- this guy looks like he is about to hit you over the head with one of the bottles behind him.8. What happens to people when they drink and suddenly decide they have to reveal all of the information their brain holds- pertinent or not. Stick to being drunk sweetheart- we are not here at C LOUNGE for a heart to heart !9. You know something is wrong when you decide "LET'S GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE" and you hit the floor running- only to find out 2 people are laying on the floor so you have to jump over them like its a Mission Impossible to leave this place.10. You know the night was a mess when you are in a club leaving outisde the club- yelling at the people in line "DO NOT GO IN THIS CLUB- unless you are 25 going on 18"OH what a night- I had to share with you as I am still laughing ! Hope it made you laugh as well.

Mariah Carey- New Album- April 15th Official Press ReleaseMARIAH CAREY ANNOUNCES E=MC² !!
NEW ALBUM IN STORES APRIL 15th - FOLLOWS-UP WORLDWIDE 10 MILLION-SELLING, MULTI-GRAMMY WINNING THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI
“Touch My Body” first single hits radio February 12th, written and produced by Mariah Carey, C. “Tricky” Stewart and The Dream- video directed by Brett Ratner, premiere to be announced.
(February 12, 2008 - New York, NY) Performer and songwriter Mariah Carey has set April 15th as the in-store date for the most eagerly anticipated album of the year, E=MC². The 11th studio album of her career, E=MC² is the follow-up to The Emancipation Of Mimi, Mariah’s worldwide 10 million selling #1 album, which generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), 2 #1 singles and countless more industry honors during its 18-month stay on the charts.
The first single from E=MC² is “Touch My Body,” written and produced by Mariah Carey, C. “Tricky” Stewart, and The-Dream, and blasting out worldwide on February 12th. The video for “Touch My Body” was directed by feature filmmaker Brett Ratner - Internet, cable and network premieres for the video will be announced in the weeks ahead. In addition to C. “Tricky” Stewart and The-Dream, other guest producers joining Mariah on E=MC² will include Jermaine Dupri, DJ Toomp, Stargate, Will I Am, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills and James Poyser.. E=MC² is executive produced by Mariah Carey and Antonio “LA” Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group.
The Emancipation Of Mimi, released April 12, 2005, was an industry phenomenon for the mega-platinum award-winning superstar - Soundscan’s biggest-selling album of the year, bringing total sales of Mariah’s albums, singles and videos to more than 160 million worldwide, making her the most successful female recording artist in history. Mimi featured “We Belong Together” (winner of the Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song Grammys) and “Don’t Forget About Us,” Mariah’s 16th and 17th #1 career singles respectively. They tied one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley’s 17 #1’s. Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 48 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles’ all-time high of 20 #1 hits.

Grammys Loved Beyonce andTina Turner. That lady still got it ! Rihanna loving her hair ! Usher and wifey doing their thing.
Someone please tell me what this guy was thinking? I really love NAS for the record. What I don't understand is why he is wearing that shirt ! I mean you exercise your freedom of speech to title it as your album. Still didn't agree with that. Wearing it on a t-shirt is pushing it !
Kanye & Daft Punk Glowing in the dark at the Grammys
Consequence Ft. Kanye West - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly It's about time ...I feel like I knew this song 3 years ago. Still like it though!
RIP J Dilla
I remember being in NY when Dilla passed. I was shopping with my homeboy when I got a call with the sad news. At the time I underestimated the loss, until I came back home and saw how it had affected some close to me very deeply. One thing that has been amazing through it all is that music lives on and will always be attached to a memory or feeling of when we first head the Dilla sound.
Shout out to Frank N Dank !

It's my joy and my tears and the laughter it brings to me it's MY EVERYTHING
Jay-Z couldn't have said it better for me. Working in music is exactly that - summed up in one sentence: "It's my joy and my tears and the laughter it brings to me it's MY EVERYTHING"Often I have felt lost in this whole music industry, thinking that the dreams I once had in music are now a thing of the past. Thinking that maybe what I had been dreaming all along was too good to be true, or maybe just that a dream. One thing is to be said about dreams, if you want them to come true, you have to be willing to have your faith tested throughout the way. I mean after all if its something you want with all of your heart, you are willing to do anything to obtain it.For four years, I have had the great pleasure of doing a job that I love. Waking up in the morning never dreading going into work. (Except for the days when I wish we had a snow day) Working with the best team. Having the best mentors. I can't lie sometimes I felt like it was all for nothing. Something funny happened every time I felt I was almost at my quitting point. Right when I felt I was at the end of my rope, a bit of light seemed to shed, to reassure me that following my heart was the best decision I could have ever made.I made a promise to myself, to stick it out. I feel that I owe it to myself to see just how far my dreams can take me. I mean in one way or another aren't we all living our dreams. Whether we realize it or not, everything we are is a manifestation of our dreams and belief.I feel that it is important to state that it isn't impossible.Even in times when it seems like all the options are weighing against you, that's when you have to go at it your hardest. I mean if that's what you really want.Today I feel GREAT ! Now more than ever, I finally see where the progression of 4 years of hard work and sacrifice could lead to. The music industry is not dead as many would say, you just need to be willing to accept the changes and be open to the "new structure" (whatever that is).Music is my life, it's my second family, it's my home away from home. It's my lifelong dream and I refuse to accept that technology has abolished all of it."It's my joy and my tears and the laughter it brings to me it's MY EVERYTHING"

Microsoft + Yahoo = Trouble for Google ??? "Today, Microsoft lacks both the weaponry and the nimbleness to compete with Google. Its operating system monopoly gives it no advantages in this battle. People can use Microsoft's operating system and browser to get to the Internet - and to Google - or they can use Apple's. It truly doesn't matter. Meanwhile, with every new Internet fad, like the current frenzy over social networking, Microsoft is invariably caught flat-footed and has to race to just get a foot in the game. But that's always the way it is when companies get big - and it is why real innovation always comes from small companies that don't have a predetermined mind-set, or monopoly profits to protect."For the full article click hereCan't say I didn't see this one coming, the new age that we are in is all about Monopoly, it was only a matter of time until Google was faced with a competitor.

N*E*R*D -Everyone Nose
I been killing this song for the past week so I thought I would share. I am glad the boys are back, bringing a much different vibe to music. Much needed breath of fresh air.The song is very funny- full of "read between the lines" lyrics. Turns out they are talking about girls doing coke at the club... HAHAHAHAHAH !!!! Took me a minute to realize that, but shit was even funny after I learned the true meaning of the song. If you haven't heard it yet, check it out.
All I gotta say is: "All the girls standing in the line for the bathroom, all the girls standing in the line for the bathroom..." lol This one is for YOU !

J. Holiday - All I gotta say is MMM...
I really like this song !
Ms. Jackson if you're nasty !!!!
Janet Jackson is set to release "Discipline" February 26th. The first single was "Feedback"- can you say HATED IT !!! I mean I wanted more from Janet and after hearing that song I thought the whole album was gonna be pretty - WEAK !So I was on some blogs this weekend and ended up finding these two songs that made me feel like- she still had it. Maybe getting rid of Terry and Jimmy Jam for this album wasn't a bad idea. "Rock With You" is my favorite out of the two- I am loving the house influenced tracks that people are turning to these days. Definitely making me wanna get my house hands up !!! LOL"Luv" is cool too- it's a bit more laid back but I am still feeling it a lot more than "Feedback".Here you go - let me know what you think

Erykah Badu's Honey
SHE'S BAAAACKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!! AND I LOVE IT.
Check out the video for honey herePeep the ecard also here
Estelle - American Boy feat. Kany West
I really like this song. If you heard the WILL.I.AM album you may remember this beat on his song "Impatient".Rumor has it that WILL.I.AM sold this beat to Estelle then decided he would use it on his album.Well she does it more justice then he does. Check it out on her myspaceCan't wait to see the video- Kanye and John Legend make an appearance in it.All I gotta say is buying a WILL.I.AM beat and getting Kanye on your track ain't CHEAP !!!
House music is back in a BIG WAY !!! Remember where you heard it first first first...lol
I like this song- this Leona Lewis is gonna do big things. This is the US version of her video for "Bleeding Love". I hear Leona is being compared to an early Mariah Carey- some have even said that she is UK's Beyonce. I wouldn't really compare her to either, I think she has her own style and her own appeal.
She has my STAMP of approval ! Do your thing girl , I ain't mad at all.
Paint the correct picture ! I was on some blogs yesterday - when I came across an article stating
"HAITI’S POOREST FORCED TO EAT DIRT"
I am Haitian, and when I read the article, I felt that it was not portraying Haiti well at all.
I mean instead of describing which parts of Haiti are the poorest and tend to resort to other methods of eating. They generalized the whole country by saying things like:
"Made from dirt, salt and vegetable shortening, the cookies - which are regularly used by pregnant women and children as an antacidand source of calcium - have become a regular meal for Haitians desperate to satisfy hunger.
In Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere, 80 percent of the population lives on less than $2 a day. The mud cookies sell for around five cents each, compared to 60 cents for two cups of rice."
Yes it is said that Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere, not defending that at all. However what I am disputing is everyone in Haiti does not live in this increasing poverty they speak of. I think it is such a bad reflection of what is really going on in the country. I know that all areas of Haiti are not a true reflection of this. I wish people would get more educated on all the parts of Haiti rather then always generalize the whole country as being that way.
So all in all- I command them for bringing the issue forth and letting people know how they can help but its important not to set a general image of one area on the whole country.
I just wanna know WHO THE F*CK does this? Abandon their child in a stairwell in -14 degree weather. What goes on in your mind to do something so stupid. I mean look at this child- SO CUTE !!!! I don't think that any reason I hear for the parent that abandoned the child will make sense to me. I mean you don't want your child fine- give it up for adoption - don't just leave your 8 month old child in a stairwell face down in the freezing weather. I MEAN REALLY !!!
DID I mention that no one has identified this baby - like no one knows this child is missing !
What the heck is going on -I feel so mad when I think about this story and the sad part of it is, this is not the first I hear of this and I am sure not the last.
GET IT TOGETHER - is all I gotta say ! If you don't want your child FINE - find someone who does ,don't just leave it there hoping someone will find it and take care of it. I mean did you really think you would get away with this !
DAMN IT !!! - sorry for my venting but there are some things that are beyond my comprehension...

So for the first time I am showing an interest in Politics. I am sure many people that weren't used to paying it any mind have now tuned in. After all isn't this a historic moment, isn't this the "when pigs fly" of politics.
As I have been watching the debates closely, I have been torn between Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama. To me it seems like the best of both worlds- a black man finally considered to be a President, that's a monumental step in history. A woman, finally in a position to possibly be the "First Lady" President, that as well is a monumental step for women everywhere.
Either way the wind blows I would be proud to see the progress that we have made, to see that we are finally ready as a nation to see a black man or a woman in a Presidential post.
Last night in Los Angeles, was the last debate before Super Tuesday, between Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama.
For the first time through the debates, both parties seemed a lot more cool and civil and brought discussions on issues where the two shared different point of views.
If you missed it you can find the whole debate on Youtube. I don't want to get into what each party was saying and how their opinions differed. I just wanted to share my excitement for what could be and what is. I am proud as a woman, I am proud as a black woman.
Black men were granted voting rights in 1870 and although the men could vote, black women still were not granted the right to vote until 1920. It was only in 1920 that women's suffrage, allowed women to vote.

"GET MONEY MAKE CHANGE !!!"
The Remix ProjectWHO WE ARE:
We are yet another step-child of hip-hop. An institution bred of Bambaataa and the Lady of Rage. A group dedicated to creating social change by working both inside and outside of the mainstream systems. A youth-led, urban arts organization focused on the individual while building a strong and healthy community. We are the generation next of dreamers, artists, business executives, hustlers, activists, and hood politicians of the GTA: we are the city’s young people.
Emerging as the largest youth-led arts project in the Greater Toronto Area, The Remix Project has its roots in the I.C. Visions Project. Known as “the first government funded hip-hop
rec centre in North America” (XXL Magazine). The innovative community project has been making noise for the last six years as one of the most authentic and effective programs in giving young people an outlet for their creative energies. 2006 marks the beginning of a new era with the addition of the Remix Project, 4 new full-time staff and 3 part-time youth leaders. WHAT WE DO:
To paraphrase Kanye West we help people get out their dreams. We have three streams of programming:
1. Media Arts2. Creative Arts3. The Art of Business
Each of these streams accepts 10 young people for a total of 30 young people per 6-month semester. These 30 young people then work with the project leader of their chosen stream to develop their own 6-month curriculum around getting out their dreams.
Whether they are in the media arts stream and dream of becoming a recording artist, recording engineer or music video director, the creative arts stream and dream of becoming a writer, journalist, graphic designer, photographer or the art of business stream and dream of becoming an entrepreneur, a marketing manager or fashion mogul, the Remix project is dedicated to helping young people get closer to their dreams and helping them put the best foot forward.
We do this through an innovative 6-month curriculum that marries the young persons personal plans and aspirations with mandatory workshops around the basics of the biz and project management.
WHY DO WE DO IT HOW WE DO IT?
Because we are working at the root of the criminal problem. Because we know first hand why people get into a life of crime. To get money and do it in a way that doesn’t degrade their personal image of themselves. The reality of the situation on the streets is that young men and women would rather be a criminal then a burger flipper. They would rather be an entrepreneur or work in an organization that advances themselves and their finances in a way that is both sexy and meaningful. We understand it because we live it. Young people in the GTA do not lack talent, drive, intelligence, or ideas. What the young people in this city need are outlets, support, and resources. We recognize that because that is all we ourselves ever needed. And here we are, 6 years later, you reading this package and us living out our dreams.
WHAT ARE THE RESULTS?There are 3 goals that the participants of the Remix Program work towards:
Re-attachment to Education young people from the program have the ability to earn credits towards their high school diploma. Those who are interested in post-secondary education have the ability to apply for a scholarship to one of our post-secondary educational partners.
Attachment to Industry young people from the program have the opportunity to earn an internship in the industry of their choice.
Entrepreneurship young people who complete our program have the ability to take out a micro-credit loan to start the venture of their choice.
